Stories That Make a Difference: The Power of Giving and Gratitude

Stories of giving and impact - Neki
Stories of Giving and Impact: Neki.io

The holiday season is a time to pause and think about the little things that make a big difference—offering a kind gesture, lending a hand, or simply showing up for someone. These moments remind us that giving isn’t just about what we offer; it’s about the connections we create and the hope we share.

At Neki, we’ve seen firsthand how small acts of generosity can grow into something incredible. Here are a few stories that show how people and organizations are making a difference, one step at a time.

The Power of Giving and Gratitude

Walking for a Cause: Unichem’s Fundraiser for Elijah’s Promise

At their Employee Appreciation Event, Unichem employees gathered for a walk to support Elijah’s Promise, a nonprofit fighting hunger in New Brunswick. With every step, they raised funds to provide meals for people in need.

To double the impact, Unichem matched every dollar their employees raised. It’s proof that even a simple team activity can bring people together and make a big difference.

Sharing a Meal: DBI Projects’ Thanksgiving Volunteer Work

For the second year in a row, the team at DBI Projects joined Kingsbridge Heights Community Center to serve Thanksgiving meals to Bronx families. Rain or shine, they made sure over 500 people had a warm meal for the holiday.

This partnership goes beyond a single event. DBI also supports the center’s larger mission to empower local communities, showing how businesses and nonprofits can team up to make a long-term impact.

A Future Full of Possibilities: Nimrod’s Story

Nimrod, a 16-year-old from Nairobi, has big dreams of becoming a doctor. But like many students, financial challenges once stood in his way. With help from The Pangea Network, Nimrod got the support he needed to stay in school and focus on his passion for science.

Today, he’s excelling in biology and chemistry, proving that a little support can go a long way toward helping young people reach their potential.

Finding Strength in Community: Lucy’s Journey

Lucy was just two years old when she was diagnosed with cancer. After many treatments, surgeries, and tough days, she’s now a college student studying human biology. She’s also started a campus club to support others affected by cancer.

Her story is a powerful reminder that even when life throws challenges our way, we can find strength—and inspire others along the way.

Back on Track: Mehzabeen’s Education Journey

When Mehzabeen had to leave school due to hardships, she thought her dream of getting an education was over. That changed when she joined the Kadam Education Initiative, where she found the support she needed to continue her studies.

Now, she works at a community radio station, using her voice to bring attention to important issues. Mehzabeen’s story shows how a second chance can lead to new opportunities.

How You Can Make a Difference

These stories are a reminder that you don’t need to do something extraordinary to make an impact. Sometimes, it’s the small, thoughtful gestures that mean the most. Here are a few ways you can get involved this holiday season:

  • Donate to a cause that matters to you on Neki.

  • Volunteer your time to help a local nonprofit.

  • Organize a drive to bring your community together.

Every effort counts, and together, we can make the world a little brighter—not just during the holidays, but all year round.

Let's spread the power of giving and gratitude. Let’s make goodness happen.
